I'm surprised GW doesn't have a "force sword" technical paint. Like they have the glow effects for Necrons. I just want to paint the sword white and put on a technical paint, I don't want to have to put an hour of work into a single blade when I have like 100 marines.

Thin you paints down to about 50/50 water to paint do a thin coat, let it completely dry, and then build up towards the source of the glow. Darren Latham, a former ‘Eavy Metal painter for GW’s box art, has a YouTube channel now where he shares tutorials on things like this.

for the golds I do this: - retributor armour basecoat (a solid one) - druchii violet shade an all the gold areas. - retributor armour highlight carefully. - then stormhost silver hard edge highlight. That gives you a rich, warm gold that contrasts nicely with the cold steel of the armour.
